No gasket for cylinder head cover, Force 125?

I'm putting a head gasket on a 1987 Force 125, and I took off the head gasket cover while cleaning it up and replacing the thermostat and overheat sender. When I look at diagrams online, there is no gasket between the cylinder head cover and the cylinder head, even though those two components seem to form a water jacket.

So how does it seal when I reassemble? Just dope it up with RTV? That can't be how they did it at the factory, can it?

That is how the factory did it.
A thin coat of RTV will do the trick, let the RTV cure.

Roger. Thanks. I do see some thin residue on there now that it’s cleaned up a little more.
