I was recently driving my boat around the lake and it suddenly sputtered and hesitated. The water depth was well over 10 feet in depth. I also checked to make sure that I didn't hit anything. It starts and idles normally but it will not go into gear now. It also has a sound as if some bearings may have gone out. It has a high whining noise from the front of the motor. It also quickly heats up to over 200 degrees. The running temp befor was about 140 to 150. My boat is a 1990 thundercraft 1770 LS with a 3.0 Ford/Mercruiser. Will a bad water pump cause these problems?
