On rare occasion I let good judgment and common sense influence my decisions. Today was too windy to attempt my first launch. I didn't even hook up the boat. I'll try again on Monday.
good job. for me, i found i didn't aquire this set of skills till i was about 50. now i'm 52. it sometimes sucks to have good judgment and common sense. but they sure can be a life saver....On rare occasion I let good judgment and common sense influence my decisions.

more boaters need toexercise good judgment and common sense (incl me). Wind is a pain.
You don't say where you are but a lot of people get in trouble on a mild winter day, or in the spring, when the air is pleasant but the water temps are still deadly if you fall over. Or they goout on a sunny day under dressed, have a problem and get caugt after dark, and freeze. It doesn't take much, and once core body temps drop, there goes "good judgment and common sense" as well as coordination.
I have gone as far as driving down to the ramp, seeing the lake looking too whipped up, and turning around and going home. It's gotten to the point where I know if the leaves are moving at my house, the lake is probably ugly. Launching/retrieving is no fun even for the experience in the wind and chop.
