Took the boat out today. I was able to swim for the last time this year. The swimsuit will hang up until next year. It was fun while it lasted, but the water is just too darn cold. :( :(

Ditto...

I'm a bit of a whimp too when the mercury falls and the "jewels" go into hibernation when they hit that cold water!

It's finally started cooling off here. We're starting to get some normal weather. Now all we need is a week or so of good rain, and hunting might start to get productive.

H.

We have agroup here in Boston called the "L street Brownies" Every year on New Year's day they meet on Carson Beach in Boston for a swim. They have been doing it for as long as I can remember. Nothing but regular bathing suits and no shirts...burrrrrrr

Hey Bassy, come join us up here in Wisconsin.
The PolarBear club meets once a year in Milwaukee.
They jump in Lake Michigan on New Years Day and float around on chuncks of ice.

Locally, in Northern WI, we have fundraisers for charity, jumping thru holes cut in the ice.

Beer, schnapps, blackberry brandy, or vodka.
But no tequila.(it melts the ice if you spill it) :p

You got it Roscoe. Every year I swim in Minocoqua in October. It is stupid but refreshing. I have never jumped through the a hole cut in the ice though. The one year there was a thin layer of ice on the water the next day.
It is really cool when you can get a person from Illinois drunk enough to join you. The screams and the trying to walk on water are hilarious.

We do the polar bear plunge for charity in march on the black river here in La Crosse. They bring out the chain saws to cut about a 100 by 50 foot hole. a local hot tub rental brings the hot tubs and the fire and med service is there also. Its a wonderful thing they do. they call it FREEZIN FOR A REASON ;)

Anyone who go into 38 degree water for no apparent reason, has to have a few screws loose, but, to each his own. :)

I like everything just where they are, I don't need my appendages shrunk, so I don't think I would ever consider the Polar Bear Club. ;)

I'll just use the 'ole pool at the high school!

I'll just miss being able to pee in the big pool (the bay) at will! :D

Kenny
