1983 Glastron X19, 3.0 Mercruiser, Alpha 1, Quicksilver 3000 shifter.
So I finally made it out on the water today since installing my new shifter, spark plugs, draining 2 year old fuel and have a few issues.
1) I have no reverse and no neutral even after engaging the throttle only button. When I go to reverse on the shifter the engine throttles up but stays in forward. Is this a cable adjustment issue usually due to the newer style shifter or what?
2) I wired in the failsafe switch and no matter which way I wire it the engine will start and run only when this switch is in the OFF position.
3) Anytime I tried to go to full throttle or exceed 3200 rpms the engine would cut out. Later in the day the engine stalled due to a vapor lock. Is the cutting out due to a weak fuel pump or something else?
4) I'm thinking of going to a Petronix electronic ignition conversion. Any suggestion for or against?
5) The engine had some pretty severe engine run on after turned off. What causes that?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
