Okay so was looking at my new project & was going to trim the motor up to put the transom saver on when i noticed it. Theres no cross member on the very back of the trailer to attach the transom saver to. The trailer came factory this way & it lets you load the boat or unload on a shallow ramp with ease. I thought bout making a removable cross member but i waanted to see what yall have to say. The motor is a 45hp merc & it has the motor locking latch on the side but in order to use it the motor has to be trim all the way up & i dont know it i want to tow it with the weight at the top of the transom. Comments???

Cabelas sells one with a bend in it for recessed crossmembers

When the motor is trimmed all the way up and in the locked travel position the power head is over the splash well and the leg is out he back, balancing the weight of the motor directly over the transom, making it perfect for towing.

Get one of these. I did and it works great for just that situation. The transom saver "attaches" to the trailer with a twist of the shaft. You just mount the attaching bracket to the trailer (way under the boat).

Check out rubber/plastic gizmo called: M-YWedge($39 on-line), for applications like yours. I've seen these and they look like they work fine, but I still have my old transom saver and no reason to change.
