Have you checked the plugs and spark? The carberator may also be clogged. If the engine does start can you rev the idle w/o problems?

Re: no power 225hp

Lets define the issue a little more. Does the motor lose power when cruising or only at low idle and / or going into neutral? If the motor only has problems going into and in neutral I'd look at the neutral sfaety switch adjustment.

What spark plugs are you using?

When you installed new carb kits, did you soak the carbs?

Re: no power 225hp

Sounds like some cyl's aren't firing. Spark, Air , Fuel.....
I'm just a regular guy but I'd be checking spark first then compression while the plugs are out. how's your fuel? Is it fresh? Got a filter /water separator? Tank vent is open. Bulb's not flat.

What have you done so far to trouble shoot?

It sound like when the carbs were rebuilt, the jets were mixxed up. Verify your jets are correct.

I would take a look at those cylinder walls with that 20# difference.

Re: no power 225hp

Dont take out the thermostats. They are important for the function of those engines. Your problem is elsewhere.Unless they came out with a new spark plug. That doesnt sound right.I cant recall the number, hopefully someone else will correct me.You say your gettig hot.Why do you think this,is the alarm going off,or do you have a temp.guage.
