Hi finally got the new floor in my 14ft open bow bartta project boat. It was finally good to take it out for some test drives.... I just cleaned the carbs and I am still having problems.... It doesn't have any start out power and also hesitates for a moment sometimes and only gets up to 3000 RPMs. With GPS i clocked at 30 MPH which I figure is pretty slow becasue it has a mercruiser 140 inline 4 with an alpha 1 drive. I think the boat and motor are a 1984 but any ideas would be greatly appreciated... It was hard to read numbers of my prob but if anyone has something similiar and wants to recomend one I am all open ears.

Thanks in advance

Have you done a compression test and a complete tune-up, plugs, cap, wire, rotor, points, condensor, check timing and advance timing, fuel filter(s)?

Thanks for the reply I am in the processs of that now.... Would it be worthwhile to put in an electric fuel pump.... Right now it still has the manual one of the engine.

Thanks

No, a mechanical fuel pump should deliver all the fuel that the engine requires......
There is no benefit to going to an electric fuel pump........;)

Re: No Power starting out and boggy also

I figured out that water was going back into the fourth cylinder from the exhaust so I put new gaskets in and it runs a lot better. I have since changed the points and condenser but I am still getting only 3000 RPM's at WOT.... What else could be wrong I think the prop is a 17 degree

Thanks again for all the help I am getting ready to just bring it in to get it tuned becasue the summer is almost over.... Correct me if I am wrong but the 140 mercrusier should have enough power to pull up a 185 lb skier....

thanks

Ayuh,.......

It sounds like you need to either Rebuild or Replace the Carb.....
