Good afternoon,
So my issues is no power after i was cranking the engine over. So, i thought it would be a good time to fire up the OMC 2.3l piece of crap. It didn't disappoint. It has been sitting for a while with an empty gas tank. I cranked it over with some gas in the carb a nothing. So im thinking no spark issue. start checking the making sure the ignition plug wire it on tight and then go to turn it over...nothing. I assuming it is a fuse issue since no dash lights work anymore. there is no clicking from the starter nothing just dead. So, I have read that there is a 50 amp fuse located on the engine some where am I correct when I say this? or is it the fuse panel under the dash?
Thanks

If you had no response at one point and now you do, the first step is to disconnect the battery cables at the battery and clean the terminals and posts on the battery. Then do the same thing at the engine end. Looking at them is not cleaning them. Make them shiny clean and bright. Now see if you have power everywhere. Just because the gauges light up and things seem to work does not mean the engine is going to run. I will assume this engine has points in the distributor and since they weren't mentioned, did you check/replace those? A new coil was likely not needed. Wires won't prevent the motor from turning over but they can prevent the motor from running properly. So clean, check or replace the points. Then set the dwell (or gap) and then check the timing. Is the choke working (closed on cold start). Try this stuff then check back.
