I bought a boat with twin 260a VP. When we launched it, they both started and were running great. Got the boat on plane engines both running about 3k when the starboard motor died. I've determined it isn't getting power to the coil or electric fuel pump. The pump works when I ran power straight to it, so I know it's not the pump. There is no power to the 2 wires leading to the relay attached to the coil. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Need more info on the model and year of your drive, particularly the model number.

Engines are 1984 Volvo Penta AQ260A. I dont know the drives. While trying to diagnose the issue yesterday, I unplugged a wire going to the resister attached to the coil and immediately heard the fuel pump come on. So I climbed up and turned the key and it started. Motor ran for about 30 seconds and then died. Now I have no power to the starter or ignition switch. I'm baffled

1984 Volvos did not come with electric fuel pumps. Who knows how it was wired!

I'm still trying to find the cause. Yesterday I went down and started at the battery tracing the power. I had power from the battery through the switch to the starter. I found that the fuse from the starter was blown so I thought I had found the solution. Repaced the fuse and still no power to anything. The accessories (blower) arent getting power either. There is a small black box mounted off the engine near the steering that the wires go into. Does anyone know what it is and its function?
