I have 1971 glastron with 270 outdrive and the prop shaft is currently removed and i read in the manual that the oil pump is located on this shaft. Is it ok to run my motor on muffs while this prop shaft is removed?

Re: no prop shaft

I guess i should add that i know it wont hurt the motor but will there be enough lubrication in the outdrive without the prop shaft in?

Re: no prop shaft

Without the propshaft there is no oil in the drive, upper or lower. If you run the engine, you WILL destroy the upper bearings and gears....... You don't even want to know what that will cost.

Re: no prop shaft

Remove the upper gear box, Then hook up the muffs and run as you normally would. Just cover the lower section to keep the dirt out.
