I have been working on my engine and wanted to clean the carbon out. Right now i don't have a prop for it. I was wondering if i can run the engine without the prop just to clean the carbon out. I havea tank at home that i use to run the engine in.Thank you for your responses.

Re: no prop

If you are talking about running the motor in a tank with no prop and revving it up to get rid of carbon, don't do it. Get yourself some Seafoam (or similar)additive and run the motor in the tank at a fast idle (1500rpm)only. It's very easy to over rev an outboard motor and do some internal damage (like reed valves).
