Hello,

Just picked up a clunker 74 Mirrocraft 21' project boat w/ a Mercruiser 140 and an MC-1 outdrive.

The motor runs even though it sat for two years but will need a tune up and some adjustments. Unfortunately the trim/tilt has no response from any of the three buttons on the dash. Could someone tell me how I can jump the T/T up and down just to see if the reservoir motor works and whether or not it will go up and down when I get the wiring straightened out (if ever)? :)

I did this procedure a long time ago and could use a refresher diagram.

Thanks all

Thanks Bondo

My unit appears to have only one solenoid. I have another boat with a Merc 165 and that trim/tilt has two solenoids.

Should I jump the two small posts on the solenoid to see if the reservoir motor has any action or is there another way of testing this unit??

Thanks again!!

I have the same set-up on a 1975 Wellcraft, with basically the same problem. I will be following along with this thread to see how to attack the issue. Do you happen to have a picture of your set-up? Mine has the large black pump with the single solenoid attached to it and the hydraulic trim indicator sender installed slightly above and behind it. This is a completely new world to me and I am very interested in the advice you will be receiving from the experts on here.

Does anyone have any input on how this setup works and what the easiest process is for troubleshooting? I have looked at the manuals, but the wiring is not very clear. Mine has the single solenoid on the pump and the wires there are in the manuals, but mine also has a plug with three or four wires that plug into the pump near the solenoid.
