No reverse above idle 1996 ELPTO 75 hp.

Hi there,<br />I went fishing with my buddy this weekend and when backing off the trailer the boat wouldn't go into reverse with out grinding. When you add power the motor grinds but when you put it in reverse at idle it goes in. He told me he hit a rock with the prop last time out and it has done it ever since. Is this a bad cable ajustment or busted gears? <br />Thanks

Sounds like you have shed a tooth or two, before you cause any more damage more investigation is necessary. <br /><br />An easy indication of gear smash is drain your lower unit and look for evidence in the lube.<br /><br />Best of luck Keith B..
