No Reverse

I have a 69 mercruiser 120, with a mc-1 out drive i have forward gear and it works great but i cant get reverse to engage.... I noticed to get it too go into nuetral i have to go past the neutral detent into reverse...... So my question is,, is there a way to adjust the reverse i know its cable acutated so i would assume so but not sure how to do it?

Probably looking at replacing that shift cable.
It may need adjustment, but there is only so much you can do.

Have you gone to the ADULTS ONLY section and downloaded your OEM manual, it details this procedure.

If you are having to go into reverse range to hit neutral your cable is out of adjustment.

Is there a easy way to readjust it or is it complicated i downloaded the service manual but i am not completely understanding what to do

If you are having trouble understanding the process with the manual (and the diagrams) you may want to have it done. I don't mean this as a statement on your abilities. It's just that there aren't any short cuts.

Ayuh,... Odds are,.. If you don't know how long ago the lower shift cable was replaced,...

It's telling you it Needs it....
