Did anyone hear about the HUNTER who got a no seatbelt ticket WHILE HE WAS HUNTING here in Oregon? It happened in my town this month.

This person was up on a local (National Forest) road hunting. He pulled to the side of the road when he noticed some dust coming his way, figuring it was a logging truck.
It turned out to be a cop.
The cop cited him for not having a seat belt.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS BS !!!??

The person apparently plead not guilty, and is fighting it. According to him, there was NO way the officer could have seen his truck in motion or his seat when he pulled over to the side of the road.

What an A-Hole! How does this cop sleep at night? The officer also told the person that if his kids didn't have belts on, he would have cited him for 'child endangerment'.

It's HUNTING season you moron! Give us a break.
They already charge us through our A$$es AND our first born to hunt, and now they want to give you a ticket for no seat belt while driving 5 mph on an old country dirt road ?... Something we have been doing here forever!

One more reason for me to get the hell out of this police state. I'm sick of it.
They raise taxes, kill jobs, and fine you for everything. I've had enough. Only a matter of time before I get out of this garbage.

Keep it up Oregon.... There won't be anyone left but illegal aliens and welfare recipients.

H.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I really love the climate, the outdoors, and most of the people. I mean, hell, we've got forests, deserts, mountains, beaches, rivers, lakes...what more could you want? But the people that run this place are all a bunch of jackasses with their head so far up their *** they can't see how stupid the laws are that they make...

I'm with ya Oz...

I've been here all my life. I really use to love the heck out of it. If there was one thing I had to pick out about this area I loved the most, it would be the forests. They are so magnificent.

It really is nice here, but how much of the BS can a person take?

H.

You guys are missing the main point here. It's called **** S O C I A L I S M *****. The peoples republic of oregon. They try to shame you out of the forests, tax you to death to pay for their failed social policies including jacking up the price of tickets. Anyway, since when is oregon a primary seat belt law state. Washington just went to it but I didn't know Oregon had. Primary is the ability to stop and cite you for nothing but a seat belt infraction. Without the primary law they could only cite you if the stopped you for something besides no seatbelt.

Did you know, that in the middle of this recession, the state legislature passed a law that state health authorities are to visit the home of every new born to determine if you have what it takes to care for your child? How's that for "it takes a village". Well the people of Oregon get what they deserve. They are so deathly afraid of electing anyone with an R in front of their name. And even when they do they are so week kneed that they are conservative in name only. Today, in polictics, if you have strong convictions of common sense and strong ideas of right and wrong you fall into the catagorie of "mean" and "uncaring" (mean people suck}

Washington isn't much better but at least they will build roads here.

Yeah...it's been a primary law for quite a while. Don't worry, within the next few years Oregon will probably go out of business and we can just start over. :p

LOL!
I am leaning toward that too. Doesn't it seem a little strange how they are almost forcing businesses and people out of Oregon? Makes you think that maybe there is some kind of alternative motive going on? Hmmmm....

Primary seatbelt law yes, but give me a break! You are hunting for cripes sakes. Who are you going to hurt in the UNLIKELY event you hit something going a few miles per hour?
The cop that stoops this low must have just got his buns ate out by his boss for a low ticket quota!

It's just another way to get into our pockets.

And the child welfare thing...Yes, they tried that on us when my son was born. I told them to get off my property. They have no business asking me anything about my family. Needless to say, the conversation didn't go well.

H.

Homerr:
The point is not that you might hurt someone else. The greater goal is to relieve you and me of any personal responsibility. Once they have done that, in their many and varied ways, they will have us by the short hairs. Not to sound radical here, but with all they are trying to do to us (because they caaaaaaaaaaaaare) it will leave us as dependant and defenseless as every other society that has succumbed to despotic regimes. The problem is that they don't teach history anymore, at least in depth as the founding fathers saw life and human nature. They knew that power corrupts, under what ever guise it is achieved, but us 'mericans are just snozzin thru it because it sounds so fair and diverse and so kind and all that other PC bilge that people are falling for. Where do you think we would be if Vera Katz had her way. Cars, the single biggest symbol of american freedom and individualism, would be outlawed. They keep building mass transit even when the people vote it down.

You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned ulterior motives.

Well with all that forest up there, where did you think they were hiding the alien space crafts? In the desert? LOL They need everyone out of there in order to keep it all under wraps.

You guy's should come over here to the "Land of NO", New York!

If you think you got it bad, trust me you don't!

Just about everything here is against the law.

Can't talk on cell phone while driving.

Can't own a hand gun without permit, a permit that takes 1 - 2 years to obtain, and in some counties, they will not approve any permits for any reason!

Hunting is banned in most areas!

Can't legally change the oil in your car in the driveway.

Can't dig a hole in the ground for any reason without a permit.

Speed limit is still 55 MPH.

Cannot change landscape on your property without a permit.

Cannot cut down a tree without a permit. (Even if a storm blows the tree down onto your house, you still have to get a permit to remove it.)

Cannot put a "For Sale" sign on your car without a permit.

Cannot post a sign anywhere without a permit.

No Parking on any street between 12AM - 6AM.

Cannot go without a shirt on in most village areas!

Shoes must be worn on some beaches. (Why go!)

Tax on cigarettes is $5/pack.

Can't smoke in public!

If you have the money, you can pay-off any local government official and get what you want!

Occupying a bathroom stall for more than 5 mins. is a felony!

The list goes on and on.

Picture this!

"Welcome to Oregon State Park"

Picture Oregon as a giant State Park, You drive up to the state line from any direction, Pay a fee to park your vehicle, get on your bicycle (Your own or rent one) Youve paid a permit for your bike of course! Then go where ever you want! You will of course have to take a few plastic baggies with you in case you have to go to the bathroom as there are no fasilities allowed in oregon! You would not be able to take any paper product with you that you might throw away as litter! There are no businesses or any buildings as they have been outlawed! Knowone is allowed to live there or spend the night! Just look at the spotted owls and all the salmon swimming around!

Born here, raised here and have seen it go steadily down hill, Its absolutly BS!!

Ill tell you that the conservatives of this state are sick and tired of Portland, Salem, and Eugene telling the rest of this state how to live and what we can do!

LubeDude

I wish that we could, I also wish that I new the numbers for what Im about to say so I could be specific! Maybe someone can help me out!

California gives a lot more time to gather signatures and requires less for a recall!!

Oregon has made it almost imposable as there isnt enough time given and we are required to have a lot more!!

They have done a pretty good job of protecting themselves from a recall!

LubeDude

On the Governor recall, talk to Laars Larson. He claims that even though there is recall provision in oregon law it is almost impossible to achieve. Besides the Governor is not all the problem. It's those weak kneed weeny legislators that you guys vote into office.
I have double reason to 'rant'. I live o'er da borda but I pay income tax and property tax to the peoples republic and nary a vote or a tax break considering I use considerable less state recources.

Boy!

You guys must be really hard up for something to whine about.

Some guy gets busted for not wearing his seatbelt and suddenly its public outrage and rebellion!

Does the law say " . . . unless you happen to be hunting."?? Didn't think so.

It's not the seatbelt thing that we're complaining about...that's just what started it. It's the largest collection of idiots anywhere in the world trying to run this state that we're *****ing about...

Coming from the state of Texas, JB, that's pretty whimpy talk. Doesn't fit my image of a TEXAN. Why what if ole Sam Houston and the boys at the Alamo had taken that view of Santa Ana? But then maybe yer jus one o' those northern transplant carpetbaggers comin down to Tejas wit your confounded liberal, feelgood, 'tudes. :D

Naw! I got 'er figurd. They're makin Kinder and Gentler Texans now.

Well, I tell you what:

I'll keep my seatbelt ON from now on while hunting. ONLY IF: I can keep the deer when I run it over!(Hey..at least I won't get hurt...I'm wearing my seat belt!)

Maybe we should all just drive around with one of those porta-potties in the back... And of course...Put a seatbelt on that too.

Just mow the deer down with your SUV ?

Maybe that's how we need to hunt from now on, since we can't take our seatbelts off, nor can we crap in the woods!

Thanks for the replies guys... Nice to see I'm not the only Oregonian fed up.

H.
