I went to start the outboard today and spent the rest of the day trying to figure out why it would not start even when using starting fluid.
When I pull the plugs and put them against the block and it is not easy to do it yourself but after many times and angles of pulling and viewing I have no spark.
The plugs were wet when i pulled them so i know the gas is their.
Thought it might be the kill switch and that is on the end of the tiller handle.I finally figured out that if i take my multi meter and set it to ohm and put one lead on each wire where they connect to the motor with the clip on I get the same reading as if both leads were touching. when i pull the clip the reading falls off. So I figure the kill switch is completing the circuit and should be fine.
Next i put the ohm meter lead in the spark plug wire and the other against the block and the meter (not a digital) he meter read Little less then putting the leads together so i would say their is a complete circuit through the coils and wires.

Above is the pars list for the ignition system.
Have i done things correctly so far?
How can I test the power pack?
Is their more i can do before i just start buying parts to try.
I do not know much about the power pack the rectifier the stator or most other of the parts you see in the link.
The Motor looks great and every thing else about it looks good. Your input is greatly appreciated.
I have never run this motor it came on an alumacraft FD I bought last year.
I have a 1977 25hp Evinrude electric start that I put on the FD and it Flies. Allot of fun.
