Here's the deal.... Got a 1992 200hp GT

Stator is putting out of the two small connectors that go from the stator to the power pack......

I have hooked a timing light to the spark plug wires and no spark EXCEPT........when I first start to crank the engine..... I get a couple of flashes about two and then nothing as it continues to crank.......This happens on all six of the coils..................I have the switch on the shift linkage that is color coded to my magneto............

I did reglue my magnets in the fly wheel and they are evenly spaced.......
any ideas............

BTW

Compression is great.

Re: No Spark 200hp

As long as you placed each magnet north to south, that shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure you checked this already, bet every year I get a few customers coming in with No Start situations where it's nothing more than a tripped dead-man switch or a forggotten dead-man lanyard. Just like forgetting to put in the drain plug on rare occasion, it happens to the best of us. Especially first time out in the spring. ;)

Re: No Spark 200hp

Disconnect the red plug under the cowling and jump the Coil and see if you get spark then. If you do get spark it could be the key switch or a disconnected/faulty kill lanyard. Warning if for some reason it starts the only way to kill it will be to choke it. Besat to check spark this way by disconnecting all but one wire at a time

Re: No Spark 200hp

The actual switch I am wondering about is the switch that has the button under the shift linkage.

It has thress wires coming down from the power pack. one is a grounded to the block. The other two are black and yellow. They parallel to join together but before they do, one side has what looks like a resistor.

IF this is the magneto circuit, if it is bad or faulty, would it not cause a no spark condition.

I have done the test to eliminate the lanyard switch and the key switch....

Re: No Spark 200hp

The shift interrupter switch will only affect spark on the starboard bank. Unhook the red cannon plug, as mentioned, and check spark again. Don't try to start it, just check spark.

Test done

Test done

I tried the suggestions.

No spark still to the wire nor the coil charge wire........

Red plug undone.

What is a quick easy test to ensure that the stator is generating like it should.

ALso, again, the timing light flashed the instant that I cranked the starter and a quick flash from the gun and then nuttin.........

UGH..............................................
