Bought this yesterday from a old man who swear it had good spark and compression. Well it does not have spark. The over heat alarm stays on when I turn on the key. I had to unplug it. Turns over fine. Any hints on where I should start first?

pick up a manual for the motor and start trouble shooting things one at a time. Getting fire would be the first thing I would work on, just because I would not care if the alarm sounds if it will not run. But that is just my thoughts.

I was just speculating if the alarm sounding and the not getting fire were related.

Not sure about your motor, but on my 200 hp, the alarm sounds with key on only if the stop lanyard is pulled. Check to see if your kill switch is good..
