1989, MerCruiser 3.74 cylinder.
So I’m trying to remember because it’s been a while, but the engine was running a bit rough, and I ended up changing two carburetors that was just rebuilt by me and we’re running fine last year. So I said all right let me check the points which looked a little worn out and the gap seemed a little bit off. So I change the points now, I got no spark. I wanna put a test light on the coil the positive and negative show connectivity when I put a test light on them.
No, I’m thinking because I touched it with a screwdriver and I put the test lights back on the coil.
Only the positive showed connectivity could it be I just should quickly sand the points a little bit with sandpaper or is there something else I did wrong because I’ve done points every year for the past four years. And I had some old cars back in the day that required points so I know what I’m doing but I’m just confused why this is happening I got a funny feeling I just need to send the points but I figured I’d put this out there now.
