Hello there, Someone please help me!!! I have a 1989 Four Winns 3.0 omc cobra. I am having trouble getting this thing to spark. I have ahd several Mechanics help me on this and alot of them are clueless including me. So I have installed 2 brand new coils, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points and condensor. So one of the mechanics was helping me and we jumped the system by hooking up the pos side of the batt to the pos. side of the coil. Engine fired right away. Now when everything is hooked back up the engine just cranks does NOT fire. I took the cap off and I have a arc at the points and everything cap looks great too. Could it be I have a bad starter solenoid?? I took the solenoid off today and it is really really corroded. I am going to replace it. I do not know what else to do. I am getting a full 12.8 volts at the battery and at the coil I am only getting about 11.6 I was told there could be a bad wire between my ignition switch to the engine??? I dont know what to do at all. Please some help would be great. Thanks alot.
