no spark from port side

i have Johnson 175hp (J175VCXSS)and it seems that i'm not getting any spark from my port side cables, thus not firing the pistons on the port side. any ideas what could be causing this? So far i've swapped the power pack, coils, sparkplug cables, removed inspected and cleaned the carbs on the problem side (port) and still can't get the port side to fire.... what else could there be????

FYI - i found out what my problem was. It seems that my type engine (175HP Johnson) has a shift switch that disables spark to cylinders 1,3 and 5 during the shifting process. after disconnecting the black/yellow wire from the switch to the power pack cylinders 1,3 and 5 fire. I can now advance the carb linkage cable and the engine revs up like normal, no more choking and dying. thanks again.
