so i put brand new mallory powerpacks and coils on my motor friday, yesterday we went cruising around and it ran like a champ when we left no sputter no rough idle nothing and it just died no sputter no nothing almost like you cut the engine with the key this was after about a half hour of running
the battery is FULLY CHARGED and in an effort to get max rpm while doing these tests the spark plugs are out
so far ive tried :
i checked the voltaged out of the chage coils and i got 147 acv out of them my manual says that if its below 160 i should check the flywheel magnets( and they looked ok ) and if theyre good change the stator now the stator i put in is about 12 years old BUT it hasnt been run in 10 yrs and its been kept indoors so id be surprised if it went bad but ...?
so i changed the stator got the same thing 147 acv as measured between the two leads with the rubber plug i got this measurement both sides of the stator both read 147 acv
so then i thought it might be shorting to ground and my meter was wonky or something so i unplugged the big red plug to remove the control harness from the equation so jumpping the soleniod i mesured again and checked for spark again got the same thing no spark and a read of 147 acv on each side of the stator
so i had a newish rectifyer and tried swaping those out and once again nothing
wouldnt i at least get a weak spark if ive got voltage coming out of the stator?? i tried adjusting the gap on my spark checker until the points were almost touching and still got nada ! whats going on here? i thought itwas kinda weird that i got the same readingo ut of BOTH stators ...im kinda at a loss here so any help from you guys would be GREAT !!
thanks ahead of time
