after going back thru a few pages to see if there were any similar problems being had by others (no spark in a 1975 40 merc) I noticed that there were others that got no reply. Does this mean I've got a big problem that even the ones that know, don't know? Thanks for any help, Blain

If its the 2 cyl merc that you have its most likely the powerpack...located just above the carbs. or that cut out switch that is to knock the ignition out while the engine is tipped up.

TMD

Re: no spark / no reply

Hey, thanks Marine Dr. I had the motor tipped up. I also had it running on one cylinder after that. I checked to see if I had spark. Using the plug I knew was good, I checked both wires and had spark at both. When I put 2 new plugs in I had none. I'm thinkin' there must be some grief with that switch.
Again, thanks! I'll let you know. Blain
