No spark on 4.3 GL

Hello boaters

I have phucased a 2007 glastron GT185 with a volvo penta GL-G. The engine was total disampled by a jerk, who called him self a pro. He meant that the block was cracked by frost, It only need new manifolds, risers and 6 exhaust valves. Every thing i now assembled and back in the boat, but when i crank it, there is no spark at the plugs. When I stop cranking the start motor and the engine still turns, the sparks comes!

The starter motor, is "eating" the power for the ignition, what have done wrong? Is there missing a ground (-) kabel (and if, where?) or is the coil gone bad or have I miswired anything?

Does anyone have an id?er

What is your full model number and do you know if the stock distributor is the one that is on your engine now?

Post a picture of your distributor.

All stock, 60 hours on it. Newer been done service or anything on it. I will post numbers and picstures tomowrow.

The only thing that where left, wenn I assembled the engine is a black single wire, aprox. 20cm with eyes in both ends, with 11mm and 7mm holes, where does it go...?

Down on the startermotor, I put the small yellow wire on the 4mm thread near the engine an all others on the 8mm thread away from the block. All others are: a big red wire from the main switch, a dobbelt red wire and a single wire from the harness

Thinking out of the box here but make sure the wires are connected correctly on the tachometer gauge. Make sure the ignition and send wires aren't on the wrong posts as that will create symptoms similar to yours. Unhook the gray wire from the tach and see is that helps.

Thanks nitwhit, you got me thinking. I started to check the harness and connection. when I bypassed the ignition switch, the engine fired up ;-)
