No spark

76 Mercury 850 (85 hp). Have voltage at the solinoid. Have voltage going to the swith box but dead at at 4 coils. what might be the problem. I'm no mechanic but trying to get this motor running on my own.

(1); Remove the black with yellow stripe wire from the switchbox, and try it.This defetes the entire kill circuit. Understand that,if the problem is in the kill circuit,you will be unale to shut the engine down.<br /><br />(2)If #1 didn't give you spark...There are 4 wires comming from the trigger to the switchbox.<br />Unbolt them. Check for resistance or continuity between brown and white/black leads (around 1000ohms).<br />You should also have 1000ohms ballpark between white and white/black.<br />You should also have 1000ohms or thereboutz between Violet and white/black leads.<br />If any of these are missing, the trigger is bad.<br />If that don't get you running, lettuce know.
