I have a 1998 Force 120. Over the weekend I was out. The motor was fine all the way to my destination, but when I tried to start the engine nothing. I was getting gas it seemed like no spark. After SEA-TOW pulled me to the dock, the Captain said to check the magneto. Any other suggestions?

Re: NO SPARK

Get a Clymer Force repair manual if you are new to outboards.

Check the safety lanyard kill switch.

Then, check for spark, compression, and fuel to the cylinders.
Determine which of these 3 is the problem.

If compression is low, it is decision time.

If no spark, you need to test the stator, trigger, and cdm/coils.

If no fuel, check the carbs for fuel, If no fuel in the carbs, problem is in the tank, hose, bulb, or fuel pump.
