I have a mercruiser 4cyl. 165 hp. and i don't have no spark. I had this problem before but now i can't seem to figure out what the problem is.There is no power going to coil, it cranks over fine gas is getting into carb, but no spark. I don't know if could be a ground problem if so i don't where to begin. It has a distributor don't know if problem can be the points. Thanks

Re: No spark

If you don't have power to the + terminal on the coil, then you have a bad ignition switch, bad wiring, of a bad kill switch (or forgot the lanyard).
What year is your 470? there are manuals up in the adults only sticky.

Re: No spark

where is the ignition switch.

You gotta be kidding.
You too need to find a mechanic. If you can't find your ignition switch then you darn sure can't start messing with a head gasket or anything else mechanical.
