Hi. Put my boat away last year,4.3 V6 mercruiser, and all was fine. Went to start her up and engine does not fire. No spark. What could fail when its just been sat there.Any testing tips would be great thanks.

What ignition system do you have. Without a clue as to year or serial number, your question is difficult to answer.

Is it a carbed motor? does it have the thunderbolt IV or Thunderbolt V?

Being a 98, it's a Thunderbolt V system.
Here is the troubleshooting chart. You did hook up your safety kill switch lanyard didn't you?

Nope, the Thunderbolt V didn't come out till 95. You have the Thunderbolt IV system.
Do you have the Mercruiser serial number for your engine? It's on a tag by the starter.

Thanx to all. Just had a poke around and blow me it started. At least i know nothing broken. Did notice my sump was a bit rusty though.
