went down the river sunday and just shut off, like someone pulled the coil wire. after a day of work and parts replacement, the parts guys told me to get a ignition module? very very rare to go bad but thats got to be it! ( right ). after checking all grounds checking all wire plugs, going threw all the tests it does say to go to this module mounted to the dist, with the knock senser. my guestion has anyone ever replaced one of these or have one to try or buy? the part # 5.7 lx bravo 806956-5 the boat is a 1996 merc 350 chevy also i pulled the top off this module and some kind of water came out of it? i dont believe it was oil of any kind, as it dried quick. thanks dan

assuming this is a thunderbolt v ignition.... are you talking about the icm or knock module?
a bad icm could kill the engine like you stated.....but bad knock module wouldnt.
i ran mine with the entire knock module temporarily disconected during a troubleshooting frenzy last year
another thing.....ive heard of people with water in their module,,,,and after thoroughly drying it out....their engine ran fine...
worth a try,,,,icm for t5 is not cheap

Re: No spark

It is a thunderbolt V system. Its the module in front of the knock sensor also. I think when i opened it i was using a screw driver and paper towel to remove the liquid jelly in there and i scrapped off a few tiny wires! So im sure its bad now. Sure wish there was some were to take the module and get repaired. I did get some prices around 5 bills , looking for a used right now. Ive been thinking has anyone ever swiched over to hei system?

I am actually going to switch my t5 to a marine msd ignition, I am trying to get rid of the rev limiter.
