I have a 1995 Evinrude 115 HP outboard. I ran it from the boat ramp to a friends with no problems. Boat sat for 30 minutes, went to start, and it cranked, caught, then stalled. Tried to restart and it just cranked and cranked. Pulled the plugs and have no spark. Performed the kill switch test with no luck. Does this point to the ignition module (CD4 584027)?

Re: No spark

No resistance across the stator wires. Do the stator and power pack usally fail together or is it highly possible I just have a stator problem?

I believe that the stator you have works in series...so there should be resistance between the wires.

Its not common for both to fail at once.

You should be able to take a voltage reading off the stator using a voltmeter. Should read around 3 volts. <---This sometimes works.

TMD

Re: No spark

No resistance and no voltage during crank. Is there any good way to get the flywheel off without any specialty tools or is this a job for the pros?

Re: No spark

Go to an auto supply and buy a harmonic balancer puller ($15.00) Works great on my Evinrude 70. Youll just have to improvise a way to hold the flywheel while you loosen the nut. If in doubt go to the pros, shouldnt cost that much??????? steve
