We are working on a 1972 Chrysler 557HD...we have good spark, good compression, fuel up to the carb. I looked up the float settings and checked it and verified it wasnt soaking up fuel. The motor turns free w/plugs out, with the plugs in motor turns 'hard' and quickly heats up starter. When it try's to kick over, it is almost like the lower unit is trying to ingage...we get a single backfire (lots of oil in the water barrel). Last nite we made it run a couple of times for about 10-15 seconds each time...today not even that. We took the carb. off and rechecked it (speaking of which, would you know approx. how many turns out on the needle jet?). I've seen a lot of references here to "Magna" ignitions...I dont believe this unit has that type as the (2) coils are mounted on the left side of the motor. Thanks for any info. anyone can provide. JB
