I am working on a 1980's twin inboard Mercruiser 305 thru hull. I suspect a bad fuel pump (mechanica type)...at WOT for several minutes strbd engine shuts down ....however turning the ignition key to restart we get nothing as if the NSW is keeping the the ignition from working, can the NSW get hot and not allow a restart immediately after a shut down? 10 minutes later the ignition starts no problem....has a Thunderbolt ignition system..can that be getting hot ? love to hear back from anyone

Had exactly this problem (with one of the engines) on a boat with twin 350's, same era. Turned out to be the ignition sensor inside the dissy. All the solder joints on it were salt damaged. Part number is 87-892150Q02...
