Just got back from fishing, everything running fine, aand just noticed no peeing from the tell tale when I flushed the motor with the muffs. I shut her down after a minute but was wondering if maybe there isn't enough water pressure from my garden hose cuz I noticed this once before. Should it take awhile for it to start peeing? I don't want to run it long without that water coming out. Any ideas before I launch again?

My '80 175 will not telltale on the muffs. But as a precaution, you can pull the thermostat(s) hang them in a pot with a string and a thermometer, heat the pot of water. They will fall off the string when they open up. Now you know they are working, check the temp that they opened at. It's possible with operational therms, that the engine has not heated up enough on the muffs to release water to the telltale.

I don't think you have a thermostat on that motor. I wouldn't worry about the tell tail on the muffs as long as you have it on the lake.

When I put the muffs on my 73 1500, I don't have to run the motor for mine to pee out the tell tale, just running the hose does it. When I do notice no stream comming out, I get a piece of weed trimmer line and shove it up the hole. Seems to get clogged after sitting for a while.

The telltale outlets clog easily. You will see water from the grates above the antiventilation plate.

Inline Mercs do not have thermostats, at least the vast majority of them don't have thermostats.

V6 motors frequently have telltales downstream of the thermostat. The motor must warm up before you get any telltale. However, you will still see water fromt eh grates and prop, before the thermostat opens.
