I have a 1996 2855 Bayliner with a 7.4l Bravo 3. As I went to start the engine I pushed the nuetral switch in so I can give some fuel to the carburator. Once I pushed the throttle down a couple of time I started the engine with no problems then as I pushed it into gear I noticed that as I moved the thorttle down the engine would not accelerate. I tried it in reverse and nuetral and no accelaration. The boat will move forward or in reverse but I can not give it gas. Something with the shift cable for the fuel is not working . Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: No throttle

Sounds like the throttle cable broke or came unhooked. Not sure about the setup for your boat, but trace that cable and check the connection. If ok, then see if it's moving when the control lever is moved. It could be disconnected at the control box as well.

Re: No throttle

I have a similar problem.... I took the boat for the first time. 70 hp johnson and got it started no problmem everyone ready to go. Engaged the throttle and tried going forward with no luck ...how embarassing :-/ when I bought it the seller said to get it checked out he moved it but had to play with some bolt or something and barely got it to go into gear... It seems to be locked could this be the throttle cable or the actual throttle mechanism. Thanks so much!
