No "trailer" button?

2001 Mercruiser Alpha one 2nd generation out drive on 185 Searay.
Wires to my trim sensor and tilt switch were broken so I replaced them both. When following the calibration directions for the Tilt Switch, I think I realized it does nothing on my boat since I don't have a separate "trailer" button. Is this right? Does this switch do nothing on my boat? Thanks. I appreciate your forum.

Re: No "trailer" button?

Do you have a separate trailer button? If not, it's going to be a 2 position UP switch on the throttle handle. Push UP for Up, then push it in a little extra harder, and it will click.

Re: No "trailer" button?

Thanks Jason. I have had this boat for three years and didn't realize it was a 3 position switch. I'll use it properly from now on.

The trailer button is used to override the trim up function to bring the stern drive up the rest of the way preferably with the engine off.;)

Thanks Jason for helping out again, it's good to see you posting once again here on the technical side of the fourm vs lurking from time to time .;):) Hope all has been well with you.
