I have an '87 pontoon, with a 40 hp yamaha outboard, and a 703 yamaha tilt/trim/starting/throttle control. When I try to raise or lower the motor by depressing the control button, I hear a "clicking" noise, but nothing happens. When I turn the key to try and start the engine, absolutely nothing, no noise/clicking, absolutely nothing. The battery is fully charged, and I cleaned the positive and negative cables to the battery. I checked the fuses under the control panel, and they all look good. All of the other items work (lights, horn, etc). I looked under the boat for any obvious broken wiring, etc, and did not find anything....

I started the boat last weekend, and everything was fine. I had someone scheduled to come out, and put the boat in the lake, and dog gone it, my problem arose.....

Please help, stranded on land, thank you!!

Re: No trim/tilt, won't start

Sounds like a bad battery cable or a bad connection at the motor, assuming that the battery is indeed in good condition.
If the battery is more than three years old it could be the culprit.
Try jumpering from your vehicle battery .
