No voltage to ignition

My 2009 Crownline Mercruiser 4.3 TKS has been running good all week. Started the motor today and it ran for a few seconds and died. Turned the key again and noticed the beep didn't sound, the gauges didn't move, motor didn't turn , just flat dead. The list below is everything i checked.

- Found and replaced a blown 20 amp mini fuse in the wiring behind the carburetor but that didn't fix it. Checked the fuse a few more times and not blown again.

- Both batteries are charged and i tried the selector switch on battery 1, battery 2, and all. Still nothing

- Power trim works, navigation lights work , horn works.

- 50 amp breaker on top of engine was not tripped.

- 40 amp thermal breaker was not tripped.

- 30 amp fuse to thermal breaker was not blown.

- Made sure it was not in gear.

- Safety switch is in run position.

does anyone know what else I should check ?

Thanks alot I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Tim

Always good to let folks know what your working on

From your previous post its a 2009 TKS 4.3

Need to start by getting a voltmeter. With the meter you can start with the bat and work your way everywhere

Check the 90 amp fuse on the starter post

...From your previous post its a 2009 TKS 4.3...

Thanks AD... Been 'absent without leave' for a while... ;)

Also check the 20A fuse behind the instruments. They are a glass 3AG fuse, and the ends can get some corrosion on them, stopping current flow. I ALWAYS replace those with a water-proof blade fuse and holder. Also means the fuses in the engine and the fuse under the dash are now the same... Makes for easier 'sparing'....

Found a blown 15 amp fuse in the wiring behind the distributor cap. Replaced the fuse and got power back to my ignition. That fuse is really hidden and hard to see.

I just don't know why it blew. All the wires are protected by tubing and couldn't find any shorts or bare wire.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. Hope this helps someone.
