First off I want to thank everyone for the help on my previous posts. Now I have the motor running and it is not spitting any water out of the back. I already changed the pump. I removed the thermostat cover and there was no thermostat in there. Does anyone have any advice? The motor is a 1967 Johnson 40 hp.

Re: No water circulation

Drop your lower unit and hook up a 1/2" hose to the tube and turn it on. You might have a blockage somewhere and hopefully this will remove it. If not then you need to tear into it a little and try to run some stiff wire through some of the passages to find it. Someone posted with the name of a product that was supposed to clean them out but I don't remember what it was.

There are two tubes. Can I hook the hose to either one?

I'm pretty sure you want to use the hose that runs up the starboard side. The OD of the tube matches the ID of most garden hoses.

Try it without the thermostat cover in place too - water should gush out there.

Also, did you run it in enough water? The water pump must be completely submerged for it to prime.

Well, it turns out that I just didn't have it in enough water. I raised my garbage can a little higher and it circulated fine. Thanks for the help.
