no water to engine

dropped lower end rebuilt water pump. should the tube from lower end be open to eng. i have a 1974 searay put in a 888 but not getting water to eng through water hose. is there something i am missing i cant find in books?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... I'm guessin' ya missed the water pocket, with the water tube, or ya missed the key that locks the impeller to the shaft,...

did not put lower end on yet shouldn't i be open through the trans to the engine seem to be blocked

Ayuh,... It should be clear, 'n free flowin' from the t-stat housin', back through the line, to the water pocket, 'n down the water pipe to the impeller housin',.....
