No wide open throttle

Ok I have a 1998 5.0 2 barrel in my 1988 boat. I have seen a no wot list from Don but did a search and cant find it. If anyone has it can you list it again fr me. Mt rpms when I "dump" the thottle is only 2600 and my max is 3900 sometimes 4000. So I need the list to check everything again. Thanks in advance.Also does anyone have a good suggestion on a 4 barrel intake and carb for this engine and if I was to change it what would the hp increase be and do you think it is worth it?

Here ya go.

List of possible causes of low WOT.

Engine Won't Reach Operating RPM. Check

• Fuel condition. Type and Octane possibly old fuel
• Propeller pitch or diameter, damaged blades
• Restricted fuel pickup tube or anti siphon valve Fuel System Test
• Crankcase oil volume, high oil level can cause aerated oil and lifter collapse
• Marine growth on hull and outdrive
• Wrong gear ratio in outdrive
• Restricted carburetor air intake (clogged flame arrestor)
• Restricted exhaust system (broken exhaust shutters/flappers) in engine transom shield or drive
• Poor cylinder compression Compression Test
• Carburetor defective, or wrong type.
• Fuel pump pressure and vacuum
• Boat overloaded, improperly loaded, or improperly trimmed.
• Engine Overheating
• Engine timing and ignition system operation
• Remote control cables and linkage for proper travel to open throttle plates fully.

I have no timing marks on my engine. I have a white line on the balancer but no numbers on timing cover. Is there a temporary sticker or something that can be put on?

You can either get a sticker for the crankshaft vibration dampner, Mercruser PN 864360, about $3.50 or the best thing to do is get an advance timing light. Then you can check that your advance is also working to specs.
