Recently acquired a 1976 Stinger boat. There is no outboard, no steering wheel, no throtle, no wiring....Where do I start. I have not purchased an outboard as of yet. I do have a Minkota that needs to be wired in as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Re: No Wiring for outboard - help please

Hey Steve, I think I would see if the boat has any leaks first of all then check the floor & transom etc for rot. You may not want to put the money into it depending on what your plans for use are.

Then look at the ratings for the motor..........go to Craigs list or ebay or where ever and look for a motor with controls for your boat. Check out the iboats store for the steering (which will depend on your motor) and such. I would think if you look at the Minkota site you can find the wiring for the motor provided you have a model number.

There is a lot of great help here as well.

Good Luck

Richard,

Boat is in really good shape actually. Needs new carpet, gaskets on compartments, and 2 new seats. Fiberglass is in great shape, floor in great shape, no rot anywhere (so far). Wife and I just want to go on the local lake and do a little fishing. Just gonna be a weekend toy for us. Have been checking out motors and such, guess I will keep looking. Thank, Steve
