Hello,

I just bought a 1995 Rinker 180 bowrider with a 3.0 mercruiser I/O. There is a 'groaning' noise coming from the transom area while underway. If I trim the drive up a little it quiets down significantly but still makes noise. What do you guys think it could be, gimble bearing? U Joints?

Also, can someone recommend a good merc shop in the cleveland area? I would like to have the boat gone over by a good mechanic and be ready to go in the spring.

Thanks!

Usually when the gimbel bearing goes bad you will get a growling noise which gets loader when you turn. If it were me i would take off the outdrive and inspect the gimbel bearing and u joints.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... It's probably 1 or the other, or both,...

Plan on Both...
