noise from prop when i spin by hand

when i spin my prop by hand i hear a knocking sound. i don't remember this sound before. do i need to get this checked out soon and what could be the cause of the noise?

Why are you spinning it? You could lose a hand, or your life. If it is in neutral, you're probably hearing the detents in the shift dog. If it is in gear, I'm happy that you are hear telling us about your experience.

did you check oil for metal shaving or water? what kind of noise? is it all the way in nuetral? is oil level correct? there is a little noise when everything is fine just the sound of gears and bearings

was in driveway. motor not running so i still have both hands.
