I'm looking for some suggestions for materials to reduce noise in my engine compartment and engine cover. I have a small but noisey I/O 128 hp. I'm plannig on increasing the metal coverd foam inside the engine cover, but would like to know of any other heat resistant noise reducing materials that could be used ???

Westmarine supplies a sound deadening product. Its about 1" thick with foil face, then a layer of foam, then a sound barrier(very dense vinyl product, then another layer of foam. The same product is also available from industrial shops, look in your local yellow pages under "engineered fabric products", be aware though the stuff is not cheap. Good luck

I don't know where to get it but there's a product for insulating car floors, it has a shiny aluminized coating on the outside. Does anyone know what this is called? Something like this but local.<br /> http://www.acoustop.com/AFB.htm

Try a search on a search engine like Google, for a product called Tru-Max super insulator... (I think it's the stuff Magster65 is thinking of)..
