When I raise and lower the tilt and trim there is and loud squeaky “squawking” noise. I think it is coming from the top cylinder rod pivot pin & bush. However I tried to knock the pivot pin out with no luck looks like it is stuck fast. Has anyone got any ideas on the cause of the noise and if it is the top bush, how can I free up the top pivot pin to remove it?

Thanks
John

Stocky.... That top pivot pin is the exact cause of the noise you mention. It's caused by salt corrosion building up between the bushing and the top of the tilt cylinder.

Those pins are a pain to remove at times. Use a hand help propane torch to heat the areas surrounding the pin, and if possible, drive the pin in both directions to jar it loose.

I use a old driveshaft, slightly smaller than the pin, as a punch to drive it out with the largest hammer in my tool box.

Note... If you flare the end of that pin over, you'll of course need to correct that in order to drive it out.
