I can grease the leaf springs and bushings on my trailer but it seems like that it will only last for one - or maybe two - trips to the coast before they start squeeking again. I don't get into the lakes too often - almost always in salt water. When I get back to the house I hose off the trailer as good as I can (including the wheels, springs, etc.). Any good techniques or lubricants out there to cut down on the squeeking?

that's the life of a salt water trailer. grease and more grease.

They all squeak...nature of the beast.

They let pedestrains know you are coming so they will get out of the damn way :)

A compounded steam cylinder oil of approximately 600 weight will slow down the need to regrease. The compounded oil is miscable with water and will stay around after the water dries out. I only have to reoil after every six trips to the ramp.

Go to a local tractor show and con a pint out of one of the steamers there. I should last a couple of years. You don't want to keep it past that as the oil does contain animal and vegetable oils along with the mineral oil. The bacteria love it and it will go rancid after a few years. That is one of the reasons that steam guys are willing to share.

To apply, just jack up the chassis so the leaves spread apart some and apply a few drops between the leaves. The stuff is like diesel oil in that it creeps well.
