johnson 35hp model 35e76g serial 1721 this motor back fires when turning over but wont start is there any special way on the cam of setting the points or any other reasons for this please anyone ??????

Check the FAQ section of this forum. There's a rundown on the things to check if an engine won't start. Follow it, and you'll probably find the answer you need. There are just too many reasons for failure to start to start listing them here, and the FAQ is very good.

The first thing that I would check is to make sure that the plug wires are connected to the right plugs.
