Hello (again)
Took the old tub for a run the other day, motor started and ran fine. Moved position a couple of times, no problem. When I came to start to go home, there was no response to the key turn, totally dead. The motor in question is a 1984 Evinrude 30hp, S/No A392979.
At home with the cover off, I can occasionally here a soft "click" upon attemting to start the motor. Could this be a sticking solenoid, or some other electrical switch problem? I have a Clymer manual, but it does not seem to cover solenoid checking/overhaul/removal so any advise or suggestions will be warmly welcomed.
Many thanks

Take your meter, start at the starter and work back. Are you sure the battery is charged?

Paul

Check out the starter circuit troubleshooting in "Outboard wont start" in Engine FAQ.
