I have a 1987 200 HP Evinrude. I am replacing my VRO pump with a non-VRO (pre-mix) fuel pump (BRP Part number 5007422). The instructions call it a 'OMS Pump Kit'. The pump comes with the choice of two output hose 'barbs' to be installed on the pump at the time of installation. One barb fitting is a 5/16" standard hose barb. The other is a hose barb that I'm unfamiliar with. It has a beveled edge (like a standard hose barb) and two large ridges or raised rings after that. The fitting inside diameter appears to be for 3/8" hoses, but a 3/8" hose will not fit over this fitting. The fitting is too large. The fuel pump fits great in all other aspects including the mounting braket, so it is odd that I'm having this problem. My problem is that my fuel system uses 3/8" hoses and I can't use either the 5/16" fitting or the other fitting. Is anyone familiar with this other fitting type? How would I adapt this pump output to my fuel system?
